PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a software update device for updating software corresponding to a user's operation state, and a software update method and a program therefor. SOLUTION: The software update device comprises a storage part storing activation condition information showing an activation condition of the device and activation cause information showing an activation cause of the device; an activation processing part activating the device according to the activation condition information; a rewrite processing part rewriting the activation cause information of the storage part corresponding to activation of the device; a determination part determining whether software is updated or not based on the activation cause information; and an update processing part updating the software based on the determination in the determination part.
