PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a high voltage needed to drive a display element without using a booster circuit. SOLUTION: A driving device for a display panel is equipped with a display segment 17-1 as the display element; a coil 12 as an induction element; a battery 10 supplying a source voltage to the coil 12; a transistor 15 performing the switching operation of turning ON and OFF a current flowing to the coil 12, when the display panel is driven; and switches SW1 to SW4 applying to the display segment 17-1 an induced electromotive voltage generated due to the variation in the magnetic field, when the current flowing in the coil 12 is turned ON and OFF.
