PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin for can coating excellent in a workability and contamination-proof property and capable of being also preferably used for varnish coating, and to provide a composition for can coating containing the resin and amino resin. SOLUTION: The polyester resin for can coating is obtained by reacting an acid component comprising 80-100 mol% of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid containing 70-95 mol% of terephthalic acid and 0-20 mol% of a polybasic acid other than the aromatic dicarboxylic acid with a glycol component containing 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol and 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol as indispensable components and having a content of 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol of 25-50 mol%. A total weight of terephthalic acid and 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol is made in the range of 45-65 wt.% of the polyester resin. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
