The foil has a fluid-impermeable transparent carrier layer (1), an inner layer and an indicator indicating spoilage of packed food by a color change, which comes by reaction of the indicator with metabolites of bacteria. Another indicator indicates the package damage by a color change, which comes by change of a pH value in the packing. An indicator layer (2) containing the indicators is covered by a diffusion diaphragm layer (4). The latter indicator is integrated in a matrix of another inner layer. A lowest layer of the carrier layer is an absorbent plastic film. An independent claim is also included for a method for the production of a packaging foil.
