A dual function actuator (100) for a flush valve (116). The actuator contains a sensor (190) for controlling a motor (120), which in response to a stimulus will move a plunger (36) which actuates the flush valve (116). The actuator is also configured to allow for manual actuation of the flush valve (116) by tilting a distal portion (114) of the actuator in relation to the remaining portion (112) of the actuator and flush valve (116), which moves the plunger (36) actuating the flush valve (116).
