METHOD OF REAL-TIME IMAGE QUALITY EVALUATION AND APPARATUS THEREOF

A method and an apparatus for evaluating image quality in real time are provided to calculate the image quality of the entire video by using specific parameters of a target region and the entire region extracted through an original image and a degraded image, thereby providing a point for the image quality of a video degraded through a specific channel and a system. An original image input unit(110) receives an original image, and a degraded image input unit(120) receives a degraded image. A target region detection unit extracts a target region by using a block region detection unit(130) and an edge boundary detection unit(150). A calculation unit(160,170,180) calculates specific parameters by using the visual feature of human for the target region and the entire region. A final calculation unit(190) calculates a final result value for the entire video.
