PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an amount of leakage and improve storage characteristics in an aluminum negative electrode battery which uses a negative electrode containing at least one of aluminum and an aluminum alloy and an electrolytic solution containing at least water. SOLUTION: A separator of which the all surfaces of one side or both sides have water repellencies of R8 or more by a JIS provision (P8137-1976) with respect to the electrolytic solution for use and of which the pore size is 2-15μm is used for the battery.
