A method and apparatus for stabilizing and circulating fluids in a thrust chamber within a motor protector or seal for and electric submersible pump. The apparatus includes a thrust chamber 206 having a thrust runner 220 and a radial bearing 222, 224. A flow path exists through the radial bearing (600, figure 6a) which stabilizes the thrust runner and circulates fluids in the thrust chamber. The flow path may consist of a plurality of grooves located adjacent to the radial bearing in the housing (400, figure 4b) or in the thrust runner (500, figure 5a). |
