DRIVING MODULE FOR NON-EMISSIVE DISPLAY

A driving apparatus for a non-emissive display is provided to minimize power consumption by adjusting a light quantity of an optic source according to gray scale signals. A non-emissive display includes a non-emissive panel(260) for displaying images, an optic source(230) for radiating the light to the non-emissive panel, and a driving apparatus(220) for driving the non-emissive panel and controlling the optic source. The driving apparatus includes a detection unit, a read out unit, a converting unit, and an optic adjusting unit(240). The detection unit detects pixels having a maximum brightness value among pixels of a panel. The read out unit reads out a gray scale signal value from screen data corresponding to the pixel having the maximum brightness value. The converting unit converts the gray scale signal value into a reference signal for adjusting the quantity of light. The optic adjusting unit adjusts the light quantity of the optic source using the reference signal for adjusting the quantity of light.
