A control method of a power transmission device is provided to reduce the rotational speed of the output side of a clutch and shock or noise generated in changing a neutral gear to a first gear by automatically changing a transmission mechanism from a neutral gear to a first gear while RPM(Revolution Per Minute) of an engine reaches normal idling RPM. A method for controlling a power transmission device transmitting rotating power of a crank shaft of an internal combustion engine to an output side through a clutch mechanism and a transmission mechanism automatically changes the transmission mechanism from a neutral gear to a first gear until RPM of an engine reaches idling RPM from turn-on time of an ignition switch(73) by starting of the internal combustion engine.
