A memory card reader having a data recovery function is provided to read data from a memory card, and recover the memory card by installing a switch to the outside of the memory card reader, embedding a recovery program in the memory card reader, and responding to the switch outputting a read/write signal or a recovery signal. An interface unit(22) interfaces a memory card(10). A switch(23) selectively outputs a read/wrote signal or a recovery signal for the memory card. A storage unit(24) stores a recovery profit for recovering the memory card by responding to the recovery signal received from the switch. A reader connector(28) transceives data by connecting to a reader porter(32) of an external terminal(30). A controller(26) outputs the read or recovered data to the reader connector by reading the data from the memory card or recovering the data in response to the signal output from the switch, and stores the data received from the external terminal to the memory card through the interface unit. The recovery program stored in the memory card is updated by receiving the updated recovery program from the external terminal. |
