PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a home gateway and a home gateway control program which are capable of easily achieving various mail processing by using mail transfer protocols such as POP even in the case of a host in an environment wherein access to the Internet is limited to use of prescribed hypertext transfer protocols. SOLUTION: The HTTP server part 213 of a home gateway 205 processes a request of an HHTP client on the side of a LAN 204 and requests a mail/web mail conversion part 215 to receive and transmit mail. A mail client part 214 transmits and receives the mail to and from a mail server on the side of a WAN 206 in response to the request from the mail/web mail conversion part 215. The mail/web mail conversion part 215 analyzes contents of a request from the HHTP server part 213 and requests the mail client part 214 to transmit and receive the mail.
