PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an organic thin film transistor which is easily manufactured and has an excellent characteristic, and to provide the organic thin film transistor manufactured thereby. SOLUTION: A first member having a substrate, a first organic semiconductor layer, and a release layer which is arranged between the substrate and the first organic semiconductor layer and whose adhesive force after heating and pressing with respect to the first organic semiconductor layer is smaller than that with respect to the substrate and a second member where an insulating film, a source electrode, and a drain electrode are arranged on a substrate and a surface with the insulating film is defined as a first surface are prepared. A self-assembled film, which enlarges by heating and pressing the adhesive force between the first surface and the first organic semiconductor layer being smaller than the adhesive force between the release layer and a layer arranged by contact on the release layer, is formed in a first region, where the organic semiconductor layer is formed on the first surface, or formed on the surface of a part of the first organic semiconductor layer to be provided to be the organic semiconductor layer.
