PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photo-assisted water electrolytic device small in installation area and high energy efficiency and a photo-assisted water electrolytic device. SOLUTION: The photo-assisted water electrolytic device has an electrolyte L housed inside a plurality of casings 49 structured by an outside wall 27 and a photo-assisted water electrolytic cell 11 formed by providing a diaphragm provided inside each casing 49. The lower part of the diaphragm is formed into a photo-assisted water electrolysis electrode membrane joined body 33 having a photo-catalytic electrode and a counter electrode formed on both surface of an ion conductive membrane and is dipped into the electrolyte L, wherein the photo-catalytic electrode and the counter electrode are conducted to each other and the respective photo-assisted water electrolysis electrode membrane joined bodies 33 are electrically connected in series in a plurality of the photo-assisted water electrolytic cells 11.
