PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for polymerizing a liquid crystalline resin, with which a uniform slurry is formed, complex formation and sublimation of hydroquinone caused by abrupt heat generation in a process of polymerization and rising temperature following the complex formation are controlled and a polymerization rate is increased. SOLUTION: The method for producing a liquid crystalline resin comprises, in reacting a monomer mixture containing hydroquinone and p-hydroxybenzoic acid with acetic anhydride for acetylation and further polymerizing to produce a liquid crystalline resin, before carrying out the acetylation reaction, including a process for mixing the monomer mixture with acetic anhydride at≥30°C and <55°C to slurry the mixture.
