The head has focusing optics (5) adapted to focus effective radiation into an object (1) by a window (3) in housing (2), and an optical fiber (4) that is rigidly connected with the focusing optics with its end in the housing, where the fiber is provided for supplying the effective radiation. A fiber focusing optics unit is formed by which the effective radiation is focused into the object. A scanning device has a two-dimensional scan actuator (6) that is movable in a level for lateral movement of the fiber-focusing optic unit in a direct proximity of the window. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing high resolution microscopic images.
