<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithographic printing plate precursor which can be developed with an aqueous developer particularly having pH of 2-10, prevents staining of a non-image area and excels in printing durability, and a method for preparation of the same. <P>SOLUTION: The lithographic printing plate precursor is obtained by disposing a photosensitive layer containing at least (A) an initiator compound, (B) a polymerizable compound and (C) a binder on a support, wherein the photosensitive layer or other layer in contact with the support contains as (D) a component different from the component (C), a copolymer containing (a1) a repeating unit having at least one ethylenically unsaturated bond introduced through an ion pair and (a2) a repeating unit having at least one functional group capable of interacting with a surface of the support.
