PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner reduced in noise by smoothing inflow of air at the suction side peripheral edge of a suction grille to reduce flow velocity in suction, and making inconspicuous a locking knob for attaching/detaching the suction grille to/from a decorative panel. SOLUTION: A chamfer part is provided at the whole periphery of the suction side peripheral edge of an opening of the suction grille of the air conditioner. The inflow of air at the suction side peripheral edge of the suction grille is thereby made smooth to reduce ventilation resistance, to increase air volume and to reduce flow velocity to reduce noise. Further, a locking slide type lock piece is disposed in a clearance of a bar near the chamfer part of the suction grille opening peripheral edge. Consequently, when the suction grille is attached/detached, a knob part of the slide type lock piece can be plucked by the fingers with the chamfer part of the suction side peripheral edge, and a part, projected from the bar, of the knob part is slight and seems to visually merge into the bar to improve appearance quality.
