PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric fishing reel that is designed to carry out silencing during winding and driving of a spool with a driving motor, and to perform light change-over operation of a clutch. SOLUTION: The electric fishing reel is equipped with a power transmission mechanism 12 for transmitting driving power with a drive motor 8 and a manual handle 6 to the spool 7 and a clutch mechanism 18 for changing over the power transmission mechanism 12 to a power transmission state and a power cutoff state. The power transmission mechanism 12 is provided with a planetary gear mechanism 15 arranged on an output shaft of the driving motor; a first rotor 35 for meshing with planetary gears 32 and 33 of the planetary gear mechanism 15; and a second rotor 39 driven and connected through a belt 50 to the first rotor 35 and a clutch operation member 41 subjected to whirl-stop, fitted into the second rotor 39 and moved in the shaft direction so as to be movable in the shaft direction. An engaging part 41a, formed in one side of the clutch operation member 41, is set to be engaged and disengaged from an engaging part 7h of the spool 7 so that the power transmission mechanism 12 is switchable to the state of power transmission and to the state of power cutoff.
