A crawl space access device (10) is capable of being placed in a below grade level crawl space entry pit, and mating with the below grade opening in a building wall (4). The crawl space access device includes a body member (12) having a base portion (22) restable on a horizontal surface of the pit. A side wall portion (24) extends generally perpendicular to the base portion (22). The side wall portion (24) includes a side wall opening (29) matable with the below grade opening.
