The invention relates to a method for controlling an inlet valve (13) capable of displacement between an opening position and a closing position, and associated with a cylinder (10) comprising a piston (7) capable of displacement between a lower position and an upper position in an alternating cycle, said method comprising, in a nominal operation mode, the step of controlling the inlet valve for beginning the opening when the piston slides towards its higher position, and the method comprising, in a palliative operation mode, the step of controlling the inlet valve for beginning the opening when the piston slides towards its lower position.
