A polyurethane is provided to be suitable for, in company with an isocyanate cross-linking agent, manufacturing a coating composition having a soft feel effect and resistance against skin protection and skin care creams, especially sun protection creams. A water-dilutable hydroxy-functional polyurethane includes at least one structural unit represented by the following formula 1, wherein R1 is a C2-18 aliphatic or cycloaliphatic radical, and R2 is a C3-5 aliphatic radical. A dispersion comprises the water-dilutable hydroxy-functional polyurethane, wherein a solid content of the water-dilutable hydroxy-functional polyurethane is 35-70wt%, and the remainder to 100wt% includes water, an organic solvent, and optionally auxiliary agents and additives. The aqueous coating composition comprises the dispersion and at least one cross-linking agent.
