<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoelectric conversion material, which is an n-type thermoelectric conversion material in which the value of the output factor is higher than that in the conventional case, and useful for a thermoelectric converter having good energy conversion efficiency, and a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: Specifically disclosed is a thermoelectric conversion material composed of an oxide containing Ti, M and O, and the oxide is represented by the following formula (1): Ti<SB>1-x</SB>M<SB>x</SB>O<SB>y</SB>. In the formula, M having the same meaning as above represents at least one element selected from the group consisting of V, Nb and Ta; x represents a number not less than 0.05 but not more than 0.5; and y represents a number not less than 1.90 but not more than 2.02.
