PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electromagnetic wave shielding layer having a higher quality and a lower cost, as compared to conventional methods, by applying a silver halide photographic material technology and an IJ technology, and to provide the high-quality, low-cost electromagnetic wave shielding material. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the electromagnetic wave shielding material, having a predetermined metallic pattern on a support medium, comprises a step of applying including a photosensitive metal salt fine particle on the support medium in a substantially metallic pattern like, applying a light-shielding liquid to the area with the photographic sensitive metal salt fine particles applied so that only the area with the metallic pattern formed is exposed, drying, conducting the exposure to the area with at least the photographic sensitive metal salt fine particles applied, forming the metallic pattern on the support medium by the development process, and enhancing the electrical conductivity of the metallic pattern formed through development with a physical development and/or a plating process.
