PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of securing a seismic damping performance while decreasing maintenance work required after the occurrence of an earthquake without losing any flexibility in designing a building while securing a high seismic damping performance in a seismic damping structure having seismic dampers. SOLUTION: In the seismic damping column 1 for the rigid frame structure having a plurality of mutually independent vertical members 2, 2 supporting vertical load and integrally connecting the vertical members 2, 2 through one or a plurality of the seismic dampers absorbing vibration energy, the seismic dampers are composed of viscoelastic dampers 8.
