PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing the discoloration of clothing housed or stored on the inside of a cloth chest, drawer, closet, clothing case made of a plastic, etc., and a chemical for the same. SOLUTION: The discoloration of the fibrous products is prevented by adsorbing or decomposing corrosive gas such as nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxide or hydrogen sulfide presenting in the vicinity of the fibrous products. Additionally, the fibrous product discoloration inhibitor uses a substance having the adsorbing or decomposing ability of the corrosive gases, especially a porous material.
