Sintered silicon carbide body comprises 2-12 vol.% closed uniform pores distributed in the material and 0.5-3 wt.% graphite particles uniformly distributed in the material. The pores are spherical and have a nominal diameter of 10-48mu m. The graphite particles have an average particle size of 1.5-100 mu m.
