PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a file compression process without placing a burden on an information processor. SOLUTION: When the value of the residual capacity of a storage means in an auxiliary storage device connected to the information processor drops to less or equal to a preset value, the compression process is performed on files stored in the storage means, based on information on the attribute information of the files and preset association information associating the attribute information of the files with the compression process.
