PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display device improving the energy recovery rate of a sustain discharge circuit. SOLUTION: The plasma display device applies a voltage Vs and a voltage 0V to X electrodes and Y electrodes performing a sustain discharge in opposite phases during a sustain period. After a voltage of the Y electrodes is decreased through an inductor Ly connected to the Y electrodes, the Y electrodes are floated to maintain the voltage of the Y electrodes at a voltageΔVf (M2). Then, while the voltage of the Y electrodes is changed from the voltageΔVf to the voltage 0V, the magnitude of the current flowing through an inductor Lx connected to the X electrodes is increased (M3). Then, the voltage of the X electrodes is increased to the voltage Vs using the inductor Lx (M4). After energy is accumulated in the inductor Lx, the voltage of the X electrode is increased to be sufficiently raised up to the voltage Vs. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
