PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a visual display device suitable for an observation device, enabling three-dimensional observation from all surrounding directions, and a display device capable of displaying observation images that are different, according to the viewing angle or the individual viewer. SOLUTION: The visual display device is such that a rotation-symmetric main optical system 2 is arranged concentric with a center axis 1; a plurality of sub-optical systems 3 of the same composition are arranged in parallel to each other on a circumference concentric to the center axis 1; a rotationally symmetric third optical system 4 is arranged concentric with the center axis 1 on an opposite side from the each sub-optical systems 3, while putting the main optical system 2 in between; an exit pupil 5 of a composite optical system, comprising the sub-optical systems 3, the main optical system 2 and a third optical system 4, is positioned on the side of the third optical system 4 opposite from the side of the main optical system 2 and on a side opposite to the corresponding sub-optical system 3 relative to the center axis 1; and a display surface 16 is arranged on the side of the sub-optical system 3 opposite to the main optical system 2, wherein a virtual image on the display surface 16 by the composite optical system is formed near the center axis 1, and the exit pupil 5 of the composite optical system is formed substantially continuously and concentric with the center axis 1, then the display surface 16 is arranged to be rotationally symmetric on a common plane that is perpendicular to the center axis 1.
