PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor suppressing generation of a ghost, a method for manufacturing the photoreceptor, a process cartridge suppressing generation of a ghost, and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor has a cylindrical support body, and a charge generating layer and a charge transporting layer formed on the cylindrical support body, wherein the content rate of a charge generating material per unit volume in the charge generating layer continuously increases from a center part in the axial direction of the cylindrical support body to both ends, and the film thickness of the charge generating layer along the axial direction of the cylindrical support body is 95% to 105% of the average film thickness.
