An apparatus for reducing SSR phenomena in a power transmission system comprises means (16, 17) for determining com- ponents of the voltage from stator windings of a generator (9) with one or more discrete frequencies, means (19) adapted to calculate, on the basis of the result of said determination, a voltage to be added to said voltage from the stator windings for reducing SSR phenomena in the power system and an arrangement (20) adapted to add said voltage calculated to said voltage from the stator windings.
