The method involves deriving probability model for geometrical structures, which have an anatomic structure e.g. tumor. A divisional answer is evaluated at an area in the image, and an area valuation is evaluated for each geometrical structure using probability theory models. Another area valuation is characterized in the image based on the area valuation. The anatomic structures are modeled using the geometrical structures. The anatomic structures are represented using a model parameter. The anatomic structure is selected from group consists of nodule, hollow-ware, polyps, tumor, lesion, fold, aneurysm and pulmonary embolism. An independent claim is also included for a medical image providing device for characterizing anatomical structures in an image.
