The information system (10) has a computer unit connected with a touch sensitive screen (12) in a communication-technical manner. The information system is integrated into an external facade or wall (14) of a public building e.g. portable toilet (16). The touch sensitive screen and the computer unit are formed as a single unit, where the sensitive screen is provided for inputting acoustic signals. The computer unit is connected with an interface e.g. infrared interface or other data transfer interface, through a data line. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an information system.
