Automotive hatch opening/closing hydraulic drive mechanism

An automotive hatch has a powered opening and closing mechanism with a first hydraulic piston/cylinder drive unit for the opening sequence and a second hydraulic piston/cylinder drive unit for the closing sequence. Each cylinder is sub-divided by the piston into two chambers. The opening piston/cylinder unit is attached on one side to the fixed vehicle bodywork, and at the other to the hinged hatch. The two cylinders are linked by a hydraulic line, such that movement in one results in a corresponding reverse movement of the other.
