An energy saving type bed having a night lamp is provided to save energy through automatic turning on and off of the night lamp. An energy saving type bed having a book rest includes: a head plate; a night lamp(3) fixed on one side of the head plate; a luminous intensity sensing switch(2) which provides power to the night lamp when indoor luminous intensity is below than a certain level; multiple weight sensing switch(1) which blocks power supply to the night lamp when one of them is pressed; a human body sensing switch; and a manual switch(4) to control power supply to the night lamp manually.
