METHOD FOR INSPECTING SURFACE RUST OF CYLINDRICAL MEMBER WITH ITS SURFACE COATED AND DEVICE THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for rust inspection of a cylindrical member with its surface coated to detect a rust-forming part while determining whether or not the rust-forming part has to be repaired, and a device therefor. SOLUTION: According to this method for rust inspection of a cylindrical member 1 with its surface coated with a coating member 2, a rust-forming part on the surface of the cylindrical member 1 is inspected from outside the coating member 2 and thereafter the decreasing amount of thickness of the cylindrical member 1 at the rust-forming part is measured from outside the coating member 2. After detecting the rust-forming part in this way, the decreased amount of thickness of the cylindrical member 1 is measured at the rust-forming part, making it possible to determine whether or not the rust-forming part has to be repaired and to dispense with useless work of needlessly removing the coating member.
