PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upwardly extensible roof apparatus R enabling a plurality of shops or the like to form an integrated shop district, formed of less number of components, having excellent construction efficiency, and capable of forming a closed mall or an open mall by driving an electric motor according to weather. SOLUTION: This roof apparatus R comprises drum shafts 4b, 40b secured to the outer wall of a building B through support members 3, 30 and rotatably connected to electric motors 4, 40, respectively, pairs of left and right extensible arms 6, 7, 60, 70 secured to the fixing members 5, 50 fitted to the sidewalk D sides of beam members 2, 20, respectively, coiled springs 6a, 7a, 60a, 70a disposed in the extensible arms 6, 7, 60, 70, respectively, lateral beams 8, 80 secured to the ends of the extensible arms 6, 7, 60, 70, respectively, and tent sheets 9, 90 secured to drum shafts 4b, 40b and lateral beams 8, 80, respectively.
