PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deformation of a vehicle side portion upon side collision, and to comfortably ensure an occupant space upon such a side collision. SOLUTION: The safety device for a vehicle detects the occurrence of the side collision on the basis of a detection signal from a side collision detecting sensor in advance, and drive-controls various motors when the side collision is detected in advance.
