PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and inexpensive printing apparatus with card processing capability. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus 10 with the card processing capability comprises a sheet conveying route 3 for conveying a roll sheet 1, a printing mechanism 6 provided adjacent to the sheet conveying route 3 for printing the roll sheet 1, a card conveying route 4 for conveying an IC card 2, and a card reader/writer 7 provided adjacent to the card conveying route 4 for processing to read/write information to the IC card 2. The parts of the sheet conveying route 3 and the card conveying route 4 are constituted as a common route 5. When the IC card 2 is conveyed to the common route 5, the roll sheet 1 is evacuated from the common route 5 by a sheet evacuating means. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
