A vacuum packing apparatus and an operation method thereof are provided to easily release vacuum in each of a chamber mode and a vessel mode with performing both the chamber mode and the vessel mode. A vacuum packing apparatus includes a main body(100), a vacuum pump, a first valve(150), and a second valve(160). The main body has an inner space of predetermined size. The vacuum pump is installed inside the main body and sucks air through a chamber inlet(120) or a vacuum vessel inlet by being connected to the chamber inlet of a vacuum chamber(110). The first valve is installed in a passage between the chamber inlet and the vacuum vessel inlet and the vacuum pump to selectively open and close the passage connected to the chamber inlet and the vacuum vessel inlet. One side of the second valve is communicated with the vacuum pump and the other side thereof is communicated with external air so as to selectively supply the external air to the vacuum pump.
