<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing unintentional rewriting of machine configuration adjustment data. <P>SOLUTION: An electronic device 1 memorizes a received model peculiar information. The operation of the device is controlled based on the memorized model peculiar information. The device comprises a receiving means 101 for receiving the model peculiar information, a storage means 102 equipped with a write-protected flag and for memorizing the model peculiar information received by the receiving means 101, a storage control means 103 for control the storage means.
