<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of accurately detecting the peak position of an analog signal even if the amplitude of the analog signal changes. <P>SOLUTION: A reference position detecting section detects two time positions where a signal level of the analog signal agrees with the first threshold as the first and second reference positions respectively in each cycle of the analog signal. A first phase detecting section creates a first detection signal indicating a first specific phase position in the first half of each cycle of the analog signal from the first and second reference positions. A second phase detecting section creates a second detection signal indicating a second specific phase position in the latter half of each cycle of the analog signal similarly.
