<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supercharger and a control method for the supercharger capable of suppressing deterioration of performance. <P>SOLUTION: The supercharger is provided with a turbine impeller supplied with exhaust gas, a plurality of nozzle vanes arranged in a gas passage so as to surround the turbine impeller and to carry the exhaust gas, a support mechanism supporting the nozzle vanes rotatably around a predetermined shaft, a drive mechanism rotating the nozzle vanes supported by the support mechanism around the predetermined shaft, a detection device detecting a rotating state of the nozzle vanes, and a control device controlling the drive mechanism such that when it is determined that there is anomaly in a rotating state of the nozzle vanes on the basis of a detection result of the detection device during rotating of the nozzle vanes by the drive mechanism in a first direction toward a first target position, the nozzle vanes are rotated a predetermined amount in a second direction opposite of the first direction from an anomaly occurrence position causing the anomaly, and rotating of the nozzle vanes in the first direction is started thereafter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
