PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-cooled engine in which a cylindrical wall is efficiently cooled by increasing the amount of a cooling water in contact with the cylindrical wall into which an ignition plug is inserted. SOLUTION: This water-cooled engine comprises a ceiling wall 35 of a combustion chamber S forming the bottom wall 83 of a main cooling water passage 81 in a cylinder head 9, an upper wall 53 positioned on the opposite side of the combustion chamber S with the ceiling wall 35 interposed therebetween, a cylindrical wall 51 for inserting an ignition plug so formed as to extend from the ceiling wall 35 to the upper wall 53, and a pair of side walls (inner wall 84 and outer wall 103) extending from the ceiling wall 35 to the upper wall 53 on both sides of the cylindrical wall 51 when viewed from the upstream side of the cooling water passage 23. A projection 94 for guiding a cooling water to the cylindrical wall 51 is formed on at least one side wall (inner wall 84) of the pair of side walls. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
