Disclosed are: a protein having a dipeptide-synthesizing activity; DNA encoding the protein; recombinant DNA comprising the DNA; a transformant which is transformed with the recombinant DNA; a method for producing a protein having a dipeptide-synthesizing activity, by utilizing the transformant or the like; a method for producing a dipeptide by utilizing a protein having a dipeptide-synthesizing activity; and a method for producing a dipeptide by utilizing, as a source of an enzyme, a culture or the like of a transformant or microorganism capable of producing a protein having dipeptide-synthesizing activity.
