<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter which can suitably maintain the thickness of a liquid crystal cell even when a pressing load is applied to a display panel and can be easily and inexpensively manufactured without making a manufacturing process uselessly complicated, to provide a manufacturing method of the color filter, and to provide a liquid crystal display device using the color filter. <P>SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the color filter 10 provided with a colored layer 13 formed by arranging a light transmissive color pattern on a transparent base plate 12, a light transmissive, colorless and transparent layer 14 and a columnar layer 22 formed by dispersedly arranging columnar bodies 23, the colored layer 13 is formed on the transparent base plate 12 before forming the colorless and transparent layer 14, a protrusion layer 25 is formed by arranging protrusion formation bodies 19 on at least partial positions among positions opposite to positions to be positioned by the columnar bodies 23 on the colored layer 13, and the columnar bodies 23 are arranged after forming the colorless and transparent layer 14.
