<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress coloring of a retardation plate and to provide a simple manufacturing process in a transflective IPS mode liquid crystal display device having the retardation plate incorporated into a reflection display section. <P>SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the transflective IPS mode liquid crystal display device having the retardation plate incorporated thereinto has: a step to form a primary coating layer to align the retardation plate; a step to apply a photo-curing material for the retardation plate to the primary coating layer; a first exposure step to selectively cure a portion of the material for the retardation plate corresponding to the reflection display section with mask exposure; and a second exposure step to expose and cure the entire surface of the material for the retardation plate while heating it. A wavelength of light emitted in curing the material for the retardation plate is preferably a predetermined wavelength (for example, 300 nm) or longer. Also, a substance which absorbs the light with a wavelength equal to or longer than the predetermined wavelength and initiate polymerization is preferably used as a polymerization initiator of the material for the retardation plate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
