PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve molding accuracy when a housing for an optical head is manufactured by die casting. SOLUTION: This is a method for manufacturing a housing for an optical head provided with a projection projected in the vertical direction from a base plate by die casting. The manufacturing method of the housing for an optical head has a step for preparing a metallic mold 11a having a concave part 18a forming a projection and a projection part 19a opposing to the concave part 18a and provided so as to extend toward the concave part 18a, and a step for injecting molten metal in a cavity of the metallic mold. The projection part 19a is constituted so that a flow path of the molten metal is formed between the concave part 18a and the projection part 19a along the concave part 18a.
