PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner using a CO2 refrigerant and capable of achieving a high coefficient of performance. SOLUTION: This air conditioner 1 comprises an outdoor heat exchanger 13 and a sprinkler 51. The outdoor heat exchanger 13 allows the refrigerant to radiate heat to the atmospheric air in a cooling operation. The sprinkler 51 sprinkles water to the outdoor heat exchanger 13 in the cooling operation. A distribution of water sprinkling is changed corresponding to a distribution of heat exchange amount in the outdoor heat exchanger 13. By sprinkling much water to an area which may have much heat exchange amount, the increase of the heat exchange amount by water sprinkling and the lowering of a refrigerant outlet temperature of the outdoor heat exchanger 13, can be maximized.
